World Technology Evaluation Center (WTEC)

Dear Colleague:

You are invited to the WTEC Workshop on Spin Electronics in Europe, Japan, and the United States, to be held at the National Science Foundation (NSF) in Arlington, Virginia. We think you will want to attend this workshop to get a look at current work being done at some of the world's leading centers in spin electronics research and applications development.

WTEC's panel of experts, chaired by Dr. Stephan von Molnár of Florida State University, will present its assessment of site visits with researchers and government program managers at spin electronics research centers in Europe and Japan. A list of panel members and the sites they have visited is included on the reverse side. In addition to in-person site visits, the panel covered activities at many other important sites through interviews conducted during spin electronics conferences this year, and through correspondence with other leading researchers the panel was not able to visit. A draft agenda for the workshop is included below. Topics to be covered in the workshop include the following:

This workshop is part of a series of over 50 foreign technology assessments conducted over the past decade by WTEC, which is operated through grants to WTEC, Inc. from the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research. Additional information on the scope of this study and the workshop is available at http://www.wtec.org/spin/.

To reserve a seat, please RSVP via Fax (410-467-3545) or email (baw@wtec.org); include your full name, affiliation, address, and phone number. There is no charge for the workshop, which is open to the public. Advance registration is required, since seating may be limited.

Accommodations: We recommend the Holiday Inn Arlington at Ballston, three blocks west of NSF. Holiday Inn reservations can by made by phone at 800-465-4329 or on the Web at http://www.holidayinn.com.
