Introduction
This workshop, the second in a series of bilateral
French–U.S.
workshops on nanobiotechnology, was held March 2-3, 2006 in Washington,
DC. It was organized under an agreement between the Agence Nationale de
la Recherche (ANR) in France and the National Science Foundation (NSF)
in the United States. The workshop was also sponsored by the U.S.
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The first
workshop in the series, on Molecular Mechanics, was held in Paris in
December 2003.
The purpose of this workshop was to exchange views and ideas and promote cooperation between NSF and NASA grantees and selected French researchers in the area of nanobiotechnology. Workshop co-chairs were Jean-Louis Viovy of the Institut Curie and Minoo Dastoor of NASA.
