larta - the technology alliance for southern california

"larta (formerly known as the Los Angeles Regional Technology Alliance) is an independent, private nonprofit company that serves as a trusted advisor to Southern California's investment, startup, and technology community. We help nurture and grow young technology companies in the region. We help facilitate the matching of eligible companies with the right investors. We provide a credible, intelligent voice to speak for the region. We collect and disseminate accurate information about the technology sector of the eleventh largest economy in the world - Southern California.

larta published the Nanotechnology Industry Report and Yellow Pages in June 2001 as both a directory and an overview of the nanotechnology industry. A result of six months of extensive research and interviews, the Nanotechnology Yellow Pages is the first-ever industry report on the science of the small with a focus on the "Nano Republic" of Southern California, the birthplace and leader of the nanotechnology industry.

larta has also started a Nanotechnology Working Group. Started in February of 2001, the Nanotechnology Working Group's mission is to create a central meeting point to foster the growth and development of the nanotechnology industry in Southern California. Members are made up of key technology leaders from Southern California's leading corporations, universities, and research laboratories in nanotechnology."

Midnight Engineering (ME)

"ME is dedicated to those individuals interested in creating, developing, producing, and distributing high technology products. The content is meant to address the individual and small enterprise, their entrepreneurial issues and opportunities, and the technology they use now and will be in the near future. Topics will range from embedded systems technical details to software and hardware design. A particular issue might cover biotechnology or nanotechnology just as well as everyday personal business such as taxes or time management and productivity. Quite simply, ME reflects the exchange of experience, insight, and concerns of today's entrepreneurial engineer."

Nanotechnology Magazine

"This inevitable consequence of continued advancement in the fields of chip manufacture, biology and chemistry will open the era of self-replicating consumer goods, super-health, super-economy and inventions impossible to fabricate with first wave industrialization. The steps toward manipulating matter on such a fine scale and a glimpse of a very different world are presented by pioneering scientists in the field. Follow monthly the discoveries and evolution of a technology sure to change the human experience and dominate the 21st. Century. Prepare yourself mentally and financially with NanoTechnology Magazine."

NanotechNews.com

"NanotechNews.com, a database of news including an archive with an up-to-date news in nanotechnology every day (7/7) of the week. You have the possibility to add your opinions for every news posted."

NASA Tech Briefs (NTB)

"When the U.S. Congress formed the National Aeronautics & Space Administration in 1958, it mandated in the charter that NASA and its contractors must report to industry any new, commercially-significant technologies developed in the course of their R&D, so that engineers, managers, and scientists could use this valuable information to improve their competitiveness and productivity. For more than three decades, this has been accomplished primarily through the publication of NASA Tech Briefs."

Virtual Journal of Nanoscale Science and Technology

"Virtual Journal of Nanoscale Science and Technology was jointly developed and funded by the American Institute of Physics and the American Physical Society. The latest articles on nanotechnology from AIP and APS journals (e.g., Applied Physics Letters and Physical Review Letters) are posted weekly, as well as articles from journals of nine other participating publishers.
